The Wall that Heals arrived this week at the Swoyersville American Legion, Shoemaker Street, with a grand entrance, fine motorcade, and plenty of American flags welcoming its arrival. The 250 foot replica of the wall in Washington D.C. will be at the Swoyersville American Legion, around the clock, through tomorrow at 3. This event is free and honors those Americans who served in the armed forces and gave their lives during the Vietnam War.

Ten defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas in the county court on Thursday before Judge Joseph J. Matika. Kaitlin Rose Helmer, 22, of Beaver Meadows, entered guilty pleas to two counts of receiving stolen property for two separate incidents but the same victim each time.

A sculpture of a robot drew plenty of curious crowds into the juried art exhibit on Public Square. The piece, called Robot Clones a Dinosaur by Robert Broghamer of Forty Fort, sat at the entrance of a juried adult art exhibition that sat on the square throughout this year's Fine Arts Fiesta.

Residents line the streets as Okinawa airman who died in fall returns home to Pa.

People lined Wyoming Avenue with candles and American flags, and homes and businesses in the area kept their lights on early Tuesday morning for the return of Shannon Purcell, who died while serving with the U.S. Air Force in Japan on May 6. Forty Fort and Kingston police, along with a motorcycle escort, guided the motorcade carrying Purcell off the Cross Valley Expressway to Rutter Avenue then to River Street and Wyoming Avenue to the Wroblewski Funeral Home. Purcell, 18, a 2016 Valley West graduate, was assigned to the 18th Munitions Squadron at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa.
